Indian boxer Vijender Kumar won his quarterfinal bout against Carlos Gongora of Ecuador and assured himself of an Olympic medal, Vijender won on points 9-4.

Vijender moved to the semi-finals of 75kg Middleweight Boxing event at Beijing Olympics, but he is now assured of at least a bronze medal, as all four semi-finalists get medals in Olympic Boxing.

President Pratibha Patil, PM Dr. Manmohan Singh and others have congratulated Vijender for wining third individual medal for India.
