Sachin Tendulkar nominated to Rajya Sabha MP Sachin

Batting Master Sachin Tendulkar is Nominated into Rajya Sabha, along with actor Rekha and social activist-businesswoman Anu Aga. Thursday evening, The President had approved the nominations of Tendulkar, Aga and Rekha, on the Prime Minister’s recommendations.

Sachin Tendulkar is the second sportsperson in the House after former hockey captain Dilip Tirkey.

Anjali met Sonia Gandhi at her residence, a meeting party leaders said was actually for the Congress president to congratulate the 39-year-old on completing 100 international tons.

BJP Leader Ravi Shankar Prasad said : "Tendulkar is a great player, we are proud of him. If he is being nominated, surely he will devote some time to Parliament".

CPM general secretary Prakash Karat said : "government should nominate people like Sachin Tendulkar and other eminent persons from different walks of life".

Information and broadcasting minister Ambika Soni Said : "Whenever Congress is in government, it has always nominated such personalities, which leads to an enviornment of energy and encouragement in the country."

Shiv Sena President Uddhav Thackeray Said : “Whether or not the Congress gives Tendulkar a Rajya Sabha seat or not, it is between them. I do not want to say anything about this,”.
