Mahesh babu started his film career as a child actor in his father's film Needa. He made his debut as a lead actor in 1999 with Rajakumarudu(1999).
He is the son of the actor Ghattamaneni Siva Rama Krishna. Mahesh married Bollywood actress and former Miss India Namrata Shirodkar. The couple have a son named Gautham Krishna.
