The Government of Tamil Nadu have constituted a new Board for School Examination viz "Tamil Nadu State Board of School Examination" by merging the existing two separate boards
(1) Board of Secondary Education and
(2) Board of Higher Secondary Examinations
Total 10,50,922 students appeared for the board exam this year, 86.2% have passed. The students of four boards -- Matriculation, Anglo-Indian, Oriental and state board , wrote the exam based on the common school syllabus.
